DO YOU KNOW THE ORIGIN OF THE INCAS? (MYTH)

As for the origin of the Incas we have 2 myths that explain how this empire began, in this case we will tell you about the best known, the “Legend of Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo”. This story was written by the chronicler Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, from whom his mother was a descendant of the Inca nobility, from which he was able to obtain very important information about the origin of the Inca culture.

This legend tells us about the divine origin of the Incas and how their “Father Sun” sent them to civilize men who lived in a primitive state.
Legend has it that in the past men lived like wild beasts without police, people, or houses, they did not know how to cultivate, nor did they cover their skin, because they did not know how to work cotton or spin wool to make their clothes, they ate like savages and had no conscience.

From the waters of Lake Titicaca, Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo emerged with the order to go wherever they want, but when stopping to rest or eat they should drive a gold rod, which their father gave them, into the earth and it would sink with a single blow into the earth there would be the place chosen by Father Sun to settle and create his court.

To which his father gave them as the last order to reduce the settlers to his service and they must maintain reason and justice with mercy and meekness, like a pious father with his children, just as he does, when he gives them his light and clarity so that they can see, work, calm the cold, grow their crops and multiply their cattle. They were commissioned to carry out this work as the Sun God himself does and for this purpose he appointed them sovereigns and lords of all people, so they had to indoctrinate them with their good reasons, works and government. And so they left Titicaca towards the north and where they stopped they tried to sink the rod. On the way they came to a small inn or dormitory which was called Pacárec Tampu, a town that he later ordered to populate and that its inhabitants greatly boast of their name, for being called that way by their Inca. From here they reached the valley of Cuzco, which at that time was pure brave mountain. The first stop when arriving at the valley was at the Huanacauri hill where the golden rod sank and it sank in its entirety in the first blow they gave, and they understood that this was the valley that their father told them to stop, so each one went on their own to summon and attract people to teach them what their father the Sun commanded them. On the one hand, Manco Cápac was teaching the men how to prepare the land and sow the seeds and legumes, to make plows and other tools necessary for the work and also taught them to make the footwear that they used. On the other hand, Mama Ocllo taught women to spin and weave cotton and wool and to make clothes for the whole family. In short, all the tasks that men now know were taught by Manco Capac and his wife Mama Ocllo.
