CUMBEMAYO
The archaeological complex of Cumbemayo is located approximately 20 kilometers from the City of Cajamarca and at an altitude of approximately 3,500 meters above sea level. In Cumbemayo we will find a beautiful and magical stone forest with its gigantic lithic figures, famous and known as “friars” so called because it resembles a group of hooded friars. During our visit we will get to know the sanctuary with inscriptions of petroglyphs, the tunnel, ceremonial altars, and sacrificial stone. In this place, the aqueduct also stands out, an impressive work of hydraulic engineering dating back more than 3,000 years … If you visit Cajarmarca and have not been to Cumbemayo, then it is as if you had not traveled!

 

OTUZCO WINDOWS
The Otuzco Windows are a set of funeral buildings that are located at 2,650 meters above sea level. On our visit we will see hundreds of windows and individual funeral niches that resemble windows and are approximately 8 to 10 meters deep. It is a cemetery that would belong to the Cajamarca Culture, they used to bury their deceased in niches excavated in the rock, generally known as “windows”. On our way we will delight ourselves with the beautiful landscapes of the Cajamarca countryside.

 

RESCUE ROOM
It is located a few meters from the Plaza de Armas of Cajamarca, currently the main historical monument of Cajamarca. The Rescue Room is an Inca building located in the city of Cajamarca, an important and prominent place in the history of Peru. The Rescue Room is considered as the place where the Inca Atahualpa was kept prisoner, who spent the last days of his life there, after being captured by the Spanish conquerors. The story goes that in this place the Inca Atahualpa, when he was a prisoner, offered Francisco Pizarro to fill his room twice with silver and once with gold in exchange for his freedom, Pizarro accepted, so Atahualpa fulfilled his promise for his release, however, he was accused and killed by the Spaniards. As you can see it is a captivating piece of Inca history.

 

SAINT APOLONIA
Lookout Cerro Santa Apolonia is located a few blocks from the city of Cajamarca, is a wonderful natural viewpoint from where greatness can be seen from the city and the valley of Cajamarca. On our way up the stairs we will be able to see the chapel of the Virgin of Fátima and when we reach the top we will be able to appreciate some archaeological remains known as the “Inca’s Chair” … Don’t forget to visit it!

 

INCA BATHS
The Baths of the Inca, is located approximately 6 kilometers from the city of Cajamarca and at an altitude of over 2500 meters above sea level. The Baths of the Inca, is a magnificent place since it is a medicinal spa that attracts thousands of people who seek, in its various pools of therapeutic waters, relief for the body, mind and spirit. The story goes that, since pre-Inca times, thermal baths were frequented by the local elite. Visit it to learn its history and relax the body and soothe the mind thanks to the healing properties of its waters.
