I WANT TO TRAVEL WITHIN PERU… WHAT SHOULD I KEEP IN MIND?

29 December 2020

If you plan to travel, but have doubts about the protocols of the airlines and the airports of Lima and provinces, we give you a quick guide with everything you need to know to take a vacation in our beautiful Peru.

Many of us have been wanting to travel through Peru either with friends, family, our partner or alone, but the pandemic forced us to stay at home for a season to take care of ourselves and those around us.

Now we can travel around Peru again, following the biosecurity protocols designed to be able to visit our tourist destinations safely for everyone.

If you plan to travel, but have doubts about the protocols of the airlines and the airports of Lima and provinces, we give you a quick guide with everything you need to know to take a vacation in our beautiful Peru.

The first thing they ask us to do is show up at the airport 2 hours before our flight, wearing our disposable surgical mask and face shield at all times. In addition, we must enter only people who have a scheduled flight, only people who need some type of special assistance may enter accompanied.

We must be aware and be conscious of not showing up at the airport if we feel any discomfort or have any symptoms that are related to covid-19, in this case we must contact our airline to reschedule our flight.

All airlines have an electronic check-in which we must perform before heading to the airport, in this way we can minimize contact between people, but if for some reason you could not do it, do not worry, the airline staff will be able to assist you. . As an additional recommendation they suggest us travel light and avoid delays, on the LAP page you can review the list of allowed objects to avoid any setback. (https://www.lima-airport.com/eng/for-passengers/travel-information-and-assistance/luggage-restrictions)

When entering the airport we must wear our disposable surgical mask and our face shield or protective glasses at all times, have your identity document, boarding pass or travel reservation at hand (as mentioned above, preferably they must be electronic). When entering the terminal, the temperature will be measured, if we exceed 38 ° C we will not be allowed to enter.

The entrance is through the pedestrian access (For the Lima airport doors 1 and 2 next to the Outlet) and in case we enter with personal transport, it must enter only by freeway and only to leave passengers.

Take into account that, if you have hold luggage, you must enter the terminal through doors 7 and 9, with hand luggage through door 11 and if you are a passenger with special attention your door is 8. Remember that if you need to check in you can do it at the counter of your airline, in case you have everything ready you should go to the boarding entrance in the case of Lima. In the case of the province, we must personally dispatch in the airline module to avoid interaction and / or manipulation.

To board, we must go to the entrance to the rooms and pass our boarding pass through the reader. At the security control they will tell us where to place our belongings to be inspected, it should be noted that the use of trays is only for items outside of your hand luggage such as clothing or large electronic items. Minor items such as watches, bracelets, cell phones must be included in hand luggage. Remember that it is not necessary to remove our footwear. When boarding, we must make a line respecting the distance marked by the floor markings. Then we must pass our boarding pass through the reader avoiding contact and exchange of documents with the airline staff. According to the protocols of each airport, the boarding area is cleaned and disinfected after each boarding, so you can expect to be called to board in peace.

Inside the plane we must always wear our mask and face shield, as an additional precautionary measure, the food service on board is suspended for the moment.

When you arrive at your destination you must keep your mask and face shield on at all times, in all airports nationwide you will find hand and footwear disinfectants at your disposal, the collection of our luggage must be personal and always maintain social distance.

In the case of the Lima airport we have 3 options to leave the terminal, the first is through authorized taxis, the second is a car that picks us up from the parking lot (the driver must pay for parking through an application, he / she should not get off from the car, each passenger is responsible for storing their luggage in the trunk), and the third option we have is the pedestrian exit on the south side of the airport.

In summary, what airports are asking us at the national level is the following:

  • Disposable surgical mask and face shield or goggles at all times.
  • Do not show up if we have discomfort or symptoms related to Covid-19.
  • Identity documents on hand and electronic check-in.
  • Preferably travel only with hand luggage.
  • Respect social distancing.

By following these simple guidelines and heeding their instructions, we can start the vacation we have been waiting for so much.
